Galano is Temporarily Closed
Dear Galano Community,
As the landlord providing a safe, welcoming space to numerous 12-Step recovery groups, the Board of Directors has come to the decision that it is the right thing for Galano to temporarily close its entire property (building and parking lot) to all in-person activities and events until further notice, effective immediately. During this time, key fobs will not provide access to the building.
We do not take this decision lightly. The last thing we want to do is endanger meeting attendees and any at-risk people they may interact with. We have looked at the advice of the CDC for community and faith-based organizations and are mindful of faith-based communities around Atlanta that have also decided to temporarily close in light of this public health emergency.
Galano will not be providing online platforms for virtual 12-Step meetings. That is the responsibility of individual groups and their Trusted Servants. There are numerous free online resources which can help set up a virtual meeting. To begin, it is suggested that the group conscience designate a service position to start the account, organize the distribution of the information (dial in number and code), and then host the online meeting.
It may help if the person attends one of the many existing online groups that can be found at the Online Intergroup of Alcoholics Anonymous to get a feel for how phone meetings are run. They also have this resource with pamphlets and information.

The Board will closely follow events as they unfold over the next few weeks and will re-open the Galano property as soon as it is safe to do so. This page will have the most up-to-date information regarding the re-opening of the property.
